I believe in creating a patient-centered clinical experience with a focus on education, communication, and shared decision making. My goal is to improve the mobility of all my patients (athlete or otherwise) through the use of both nonoperative and operative modalities with a special emphasis on joint preservation.
Dr. Richards is a fellowship trained sports medicine orthopaedic surgeon who performs arthroscopy through primary arthroplasty of the knee, hip, and shoulder. He is a native of the Kentuckiana area and is thrilled to return to take care of UofL athletes and patients. After graduating valedictorian from North Harrison High School, Dr. Richards attended the University of Southern Indiana as a Presidential Scholar where he graduated summa cum laude. His medical school was completed at Indiana University School of Medicine where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Richards returned to Louisville for his orthopaedic surgery residency where he was voted by faculty to the role of Chief Administrative Resident and twice won the Resident Researcher of the Year award. As a resident, Dr. Richards was the head team physician for the Bullitt East High School football program which won the 2022 Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Class 6A state title.
He attended the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute at the University of Missouri for a sports medicine, arthroscopy, and joint preservation fellowship where he assumed the role of assistant team physician for the Mizzou football (Cotton Bowl champions),
